Other Corsets and Stays 1780s Stays Created from plain linen and silk jacquard. These stays are machine-sewn with synthetic whalebone and metal grommets. They were constructed from the RedThreaded Pattern. These were made to go under my c. 1775-1785 Closed Front Robe à la Française. c. 1795 Transition Stays These stays tow the line between Regency and the 18th century in the perfect way. The pattern is from Corsets: Historical Patterns and Techniques. Made from unbleached linen, cotton twill tape, and linen thread. 1790s Transition Stays These transition stays were constructed using the RedThreaded pattern. The stays are made from cotton sateen, plain linen, linen thread, and a wooden busk. c. 1790s Stays I have worn these stays with both my c. 1795 gown and my c. 1775-1785 Française. They were not perfect for either project. This was my first pair of stays! (I don’t have a great photo so I apologize for the jacket here). The stays were constructed from Corset: Historical Patterns and Techniques. They were made from synthetic whalebone, thrifted fabric, and leather binding. Regency Long Stay Constructed from the RedThreaded pattern, this corset is made from a cotton twill with linen thread, metal grommets, cotton cord, and a wooden busk. Regency Short Corset This jaunty little corset was created from the same RedThreaded pattern above. The outer is a thrifted silk jacquard lined in linen. It has metal grommets and a short wooden busk. (Apologizes for the screenshot, this needs a photoshoot!)
